The story behind Crumpets Kitchen and our world class decadent cookies begins over 10 years ago in a small kitchen in the Southern Tier of Western New York. Cookies weren’t yet having their vogue moment in the spotlight as a trendy food.

But cookies to me are without a doubt one of the most ultimate and versatile treats there are. They can go from a humble snack and elevated into a dessert experience, a comfort food to be enjoyed any time of day and during any season. They are portable and satisfying at any age – from school lunches to an evening treat enjoyed while unwinding after a long day.

Most cookies were the same – either bland and tasteless or just too overpowering with a sugary flavor. And all lacked character and flavor – no imagination and just a weird texture. I became obsessed with the idea that when you bite into this decadent treat, you should be rewarded with a symphony of flavors – each ingredient should sing on its own and come together in perfect harmony.

And many of the cookies out there have added preservatives which deny the cookie that fresh “wow” taste that I wanted.  

So, I set out to make a better cookie (starting of course with the best chocolate chip cookie). With the holiday season approaching, I spent several countless late and flour filled frantic nights testing variation after variation until finally, I built a solid foundation.

With reserved confidence, I released the creation to my holiday guests. The massive morsels were met with skeptical eyes, but with the first bite I could see that they were won over. This was no ordinary cookie – it was a golden-brown mix of semi-sweet chocolate and a rich dough that harmonized together perfectly that literally melts in your mouth.
